sangria:

http://www.lisashea.com/sangria/

Sangría is a wine punch (more formally and precisely, an aromatized wine) which originated in Spain. It typically consists of

* a red wine,

* chopped or sliced fruit,

* a sweetener such as honey,

* a small amount of added brandy, triple sec, or other spirits.

The ingredients in Sangría vary, particularly in the type of fruit used, the kind of spirits added if any, and the presence or lack of carbonation. White wine can be used instead of red, in which case the result is called sangría blanca. In some parts of southern Spain, sangría is called zurra and is made with peaches or nectarines.

(I personally prefer the non carbonated sangria; that is what I have always had in the Mediterranean.)I am in dire need of easy appetizer recipes.?
Go to Sams club. In the freezer section you can purchase an assortment of frozen appetizers in large quanties. You can find apetizers with meat, veggies, fruit and derserts. Saves time and your guests will appreciate all the time that ';you'; took to make these homemade looking and tasting treats.
to serve with any type of crackers:

cheese tray

get cresent roll dough, bake till done (in one big piece on a cookie sheet)

mix one pack of cream cheese with about .5 cup of ranch dressing spread that over the dough when done baking it and it cools

add whatever veggies you like

sprinkle with shredded cheese

for a fruit pizza use sugar cookie dough spread out on a cookie sheet bake and cool

add a box of cream cheese and about a .5 cup of powdered sugar-- spread across cooked cookie

add whatever fruit you like. i enjoy mandrin oranges and strawberries

slice each and serve

and remember you can always just order a really good pizza and cut it into itty bitty pieces.

i don't think red wine in a new home is a good idea.

good luck :-)
Here's an easy Sangria recipe that can be adjusted easily for however much you need:

3 cups chianti or other fruity red wine

1 cup brandy

1/4 cup orange flavored liqueur (recommended: triple sec)

1 orange, sliced

1 lime, sliced, optional

1 lemon, sliced, optional

1 apple, cored and diced

8 fresh raspberries

2 cups club soda, chilled

In a large pitcher, combine all ingredients except club soda. Cover tightly and refrigerate 3 hours to let flavors meld. Pour 3/4 cup sangria mixture into each of 8 wine glasses, dividing fruit equally. Top each glass with 1/4 cup club soda. Serve immediately.

As for appetizers, go with something that's easy to eat while ';mingling';. For example, foods with a lot of sauce coating on them can cause guests to spend more time worrying about not getting food on themselves than visiting with others. If there is a Sam's store in your area it would be well worth the membership fee to join or if you're already a member I'm sure you've seen the HUGE selection of ';party foods'; that they have. Most are frozen and only require to be thawed or baked for a small amount of time and all of them are delicious!
vegetable plate with ranch dressing.

fruit tray.

pickles and olives.

chips and salsa and guacamole.

everyone seems to like all of these
picante sauace mixed with ranch dressing for a dip.Sliced cucumbers go well with it, and tostitoes.
roll ham and cream cheese in a tortilla, you can eve put chives in it if you like. After you roll them tightly cut them into little rolls ....very tasty
get a can of cresants and try the pigs in a blanket receipe Sangria is nasty try a spiced punch receipe
go to your local Olive Garden and ask for their mix (peach or regular red sangria) and mix accordingly. the thing about sangria is that it all taste like kool aid and cold wine, just remember to garnish the glass or pitcher (for some reason people think this makes it taste better).

as for the appetizer serve something that would pair with the sangria. i would suggest a finger sandwich platter with ';pancetta'; club or just blt with prosciutto instead of bacon. the most basic things that are handled easily and don't need to be refrigerated or warmed. one not that helps either of these recipes is to toast the bread first.
I just made this for a housewarming party last weekend. It was a big hit. They are bacon-wrapped water chestnuts. Drain the water from a can of water chestnuts. Take a package of bacon and cut each slice into 1/2. Wrap 1/2 piece of bacon around the water chestnut, and use a toothpick to hold it into place. You can refrigerate them until you are ready to cook them, or cook them right away. Place them on a cookie sheet and broil them for about 5 minutes on each side...just make sure the bacon is cooked. It may sound strange, but they are inexpensive and very good! You can buy as much bacon and water chestnuts as you like. I guarantee they will all be eaten by the end of your party.
