I love to cook and want to see what kind of good things you all have going on out there! Desserts and appetizer recipes would be great!Does anyone have any great, easy, crowd pleasing appetizer recipes for holiday parties?
What about Rumaki? You can use chicken liver (or chicken if you HATE liver lol) - then you cube the meat and with each little cube, you add a slice from a water chestnut. Wrap it with bacon (maybe half of a slice) and stick a toothpick in it. Make as many as you need. Here's the sauce:
Brown sugar, soy sauce, sherry wine (if desired), a little chopped garlic, and ginger. Mix well and pour over the rumake, drain and then broil, turning frequently, until done. You need the bacon to be crispy and the meat to be cooked all the way through.
These are very elegant and impressive for a party.Does anyone have any great, easy, crowd pleasing appetizer recipes for holiday parties?
My favorite appetizer is SPINACH ARTICHOKE DIP.......so easy made. 1pkg frozen spinach---1cup mayo----1cup parmesan cheese---2 tsp---minced garlic----1 pkg of cream cheese softened----and garlic salt to taste. Soften the cream cheese, Thaw the spinach in micro. for about 3 min. basically mix all this stuff together, spread it evenly in a cake size pan what is that a 9x11 pan? anyways.. and pop in a pre-heated oven @400 deg. for 20 min. add mozzerella on top before baking if you want....... I serve it with tostitos corn chips ......It's tooo yummy! Oh i almost forgot chopped artichokes in brine only use 2 or 3 and chop them up.
DONE IN UNDER 15 MIN.

Quickie Cheesecake Delight
1 tube of crescent roll dough
1 box INSTANT cheesecake mix
1 can or frozen bag of your fav fruit topping (cherries, peaches, pineapple, etc)
Press the dough into a baking dish as if it were all one piece
until it takes the shape of the pan, rectangular, square, round
This dough will be flat, with a small folded over edge sort of like a pie crust. Prick holes in it.
Bake at 350 for a few minutes, keep checking. Depending upon the size of the pan it will cook more quickly or slower.
Just lightly brown, you don't want it baked rock hard.
Remove from oven and let stand to cool.
Make the INSTANT cheesecake filling.
Spoon onto crust and spread up to folded over edge. Leave the edges showing.
Spoon and spread fruit topping.
Top with whipped topping if desire. Refridgerate until serving time.
Cut and serve. MMMMMMM quick and tasty. Not too sweet not to cheesecakey. Just right. AND YOU CAN MAKE IT SUGAR FREE FOR DIABETICS AS WELL. JUST GET THE SUGAR FREE BOX OF INSTANT CHEESECAKE

My mom also makes those little ';franks'; and puts them on a platter with different dipping sauces.

Irish Cr猫me Fudge
I also use other liqueurs in place of the Irish Creme such as Kahlua, bandy, Kirsch, spiced/flavored rum and the new flavors of Kahlua mixing and matching nuts, coconut and dried fruits to match the liqueurs.
3 sticks of butter (3/4 pound)
3 cups sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk

1 bottle (airline size or nip) or 1 shot Irish Cr猫me

In a heavy 3 quart sauce pan - I prefer an enameled cast iron -melt butter, sugar and evaporated milk. Bring to a boil, turn down heat to a low boil and cook for 5 minutes.
Turn off heat and mix in marshmallow cr猫me. Once that is incorporated, mix in the chocolate chips until mixture is an even chocolate color then add the Irish cr猫me and nuts, mixing thoroughly.

A very easy one is Chile and cream cheese. You make homemade Chile and add one stick of cream cheese warm before serving and you are done.
my mom makes these things and they are always a hit. You take cream cheese, kalamata olives and green onions and chilis and mix it all together. Than you spread it on a tortilla, roll it up and cut it like you would a hot dog. You know....Just in circles....
SOOOOOOOOOOOooooooo good
There are a ton of ideas! Here's just a few.
1.Block of cream cheese with cocktail sauce and baby shrimp over top. Sprinkle with chopped parsley. Serve w/crackers
2.Sweet and sour meatballs I part cocktail sauce and 1 part grape jelly. Heat till mixed, taste and adjust until to your liking..
3. 7 layer Taco dip.
4.Mini franks wrapped in crescent dough slices, baked.
5. Cream puffs--fill with cream, pudding or ice cream.
6. Brie in puff pastry with a layer of toasted almonds and rasberry jam before wrapping. Bake. Serve warm.
7.Chocolate covered pretzels rolled in sprinkles
8. Of course you can never go wrong with beautiful platters of veggies with a great dip, bruschetta, platters of homemade cookies, or special treats like a bowl of homemade carmel corn.
Hope these help!
This is my recipe for ';crack dip';...

fried potatoes, fried cauliflower, paneer and shimla mirch.2 potato sandwich are great easy crowd pleasing appetizer for holiday parties.
One of our favorites is a dessert fruit dip.
1 pack of cream cheese
1 jar of marshmallow fluff
Mix them together until smooth. Serve with:
Fruit - stawberries, mellon, apples
Cookies - cookies that are not very sweet, like shortbread or ginger snaps, are best
Pastries - as with the cookies, keep them only lightly sweetened, like cinnamon chips.
I have had many get together where people love this, they appreciate both the flavor and the fresh fruit option.

CRAB STUFFED MUSHROOM CAPS
24 large mushrooms
1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
minced garlic
any flavor Philadelphia (whipped) cream cheese
1 can crab meat
Parmesan cheese
6 tablespoons butter
Remove stems from the mushrooms. Carefully trim the mushroom cap back to expose the spore area. Do this at an angle so that the cap can hold more mixture.
In a bowl, combine the container of whipped cream cheese, three tablespoons of Parmesan cheese and the crab meat. Fold the mixture over until thoroughly combined.
Pour 1/2 teaspoon of extra virgin olive oil into each mushroom cap. Add a sprinkle of minced garlic into the oil. Add one tablespoon of crab mixture into each mushroom cap. Put the mushroom caps into a foil container.
Slice the butter into cubes and add them to the bottom of the container. Sprinkle minced garlic over butter.
Cover the container with foil and bake at 350掳F for 45 minutes. Switch the oven to broil and remove the foil during the last 5 minutes of cook time.
My husband and I went to a benefit a few weeks ago and they had this appetizer. The ingredients sound like they would taste weird together, but it was absolutely delicious and refreshing. And it's simple! On a short wooden skewer, place a cube of cucumber (minus the seeds), feta cheese, and watermelon (all in a row). It was VERY tasty and is something fairly exotic that I think people would be excited to try.
I recently saw a recipe for the cutest little appetizers to serve guests.
Cream Cheese Penguins
';Just imagine a cute display of penguins, made with black olives, carrots and cream cheese! You can add scarves and hats by using fresh red pepper strips, or canned pimentos cut into different shapes. Use frilly toothpicks if you can.';
INGREDIENTS
18 collossal black olives, pitted
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
(I use the soft spread kind with chives and onion)
18 medium black olives
1 carrot
1 jar roasted red peppers
toothpicks
DIRECTIONS
Cut a slit from top to bottom, lengthwise, into the side of each jumbo olive. Carefully insert about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese into each olive. Slice the carrot into eighteen 1/4 inch thick rounds; cut a small notch out of each carrot slice to form feet. Save the cut out piece and press into center of small olive to form the beak. If necessary cut a small slit into each olive before inserting the beak.
Set a big olive, large hole side down, onto a carrot slice. Then, set a small olive onto the large olive, adjusting so that the beak, cream cheese chest and notch in the carrot slice line up. Secure with a toothpick. [ Notice I use larger olives -- it's easier to make the needed cuts without breaking the olive when you insert the beaks.]

Cake Balls
bake a cake from the box - any flavor
while it is still warm, crumble %26amp; mix in 1 -16 oz can of icing ( any flavor)
scoop out with mellon baller %26amp; roll into balls
It may help if you refrigerate them for an hour before dipping.
melt chocolate or almond bark and dip the cake balls
then you can drizzle another color melted choc. over them for design or sprinkle with chopped nuts or coconuts.
I made thses recently %26amp; everyone loved them, even my husband that doesn't eat a lot of sweets
you can mix different cakes %26amp; icings for different flavors
I love chicken liver and sliced waterchestnuts wrapped in bacon broiled or grilled. Very easy and all my guests love them.
cream cheese (one package), bacon crumbles (the prepackaged kind in the salad isle) and some chopped green onion to taste make a simple but delicious cheeseball. to get a little fancy roll the ball in slivered almonds or chopped walnuts. you pretty much just mash it all together, roll into a ball and roll it in the nuts. serve it with any crackers, i like it with the sundried tomato wheatthins.
also the white chocolate (sometimes called almond) bark, one package with a tablespoon of mint extract, melted and then spread thin over some wax paper, left to cool, and then broken up into smaller pieces makes a nice candy. for a variation use half as much white chocolate, then seperately melt milk chocolate bark and swirl them together for a ';prettier'; candy. or you can omit the mint and add nuts and/or dried fruit and spread it a little thicker. i use pistacios (green) and dried cranberries (red) and call it christmas tree bark.
one bag of peanut butter chips with one jar of marshmallow fluff, melted together, makes a nice dip/fondue (your choice) for sliced apples or cubed cinamon raisin bread.
for dessert, take a basic yellow or white cake mix, add red food coloring to one layer, green to the other, ice with white icing, and when cut it makes a beautiful, simple, festive end to any party or meal.
Taco Boats
Wonton Wraps pre-baked in muffin tins to create a small bowl.
Brown one pound of hamburger and 1 sweet chopped onion. Drain and mix in one package of Ranch Dressing Mix (dry) well.
Spoon into pre-baked cups and top with grated cheese (your choice).
Place back in the oven and melt the cheese.
These are small enough for two bites and very flavorful. I place two wraps to each cup and when pre-baked I end up with 24 cups.
Bread Stick Delights
Buy a couple of bags of hard bread sticks (usually in the cracker section or deli section of the store). Wrap each one in a slice of uncooked bacon and place them on a rack in the oven and bake until crisp.
Once out of the oven and drained on a paper towel, yet while still a little bit warm roll them in Parmesan Cheese.
These are tasty and compliment a buffet type of party setting. They will disappear.
Cheeseburger Bundles
Get a couple of boxes of pasty dough already prepared. Cut it into even squares (should be able to get six out of each sheet).
Get some hamburger meat and chopped sweet onion and grated sharp cheddar cheese. Mix all together well and form small patties. Cook these on a grill or stove top like you would hamburgers until they are almost done. They will finish cooking ion the oven. Put a patty on each square and wrap each four corners to the middle to close. Use water to make sure they stay closed while baking. Pop in the oven and bake until the pastry is golden brown. The patties will b perfect and they will be the talk of the party!
Fruit Tray
Make a fruit tray with toothpicks in each piece of fruit. In the middle of the platter have a bowl of dip. Mix plain yogurt with Apricot Preserves. Awesome dip and compliments the fruit well. Having the toothpicks already in place allows the guest to dip and place on their plate.
fry an egg plant, clean the skin out cut it for small pieces add Little amount of garlic , lemon ,salt. this is a Arabic healthy appetizer.
i have some very tasty treats that will really persuade the guests to want some more!
PERFECT PARTY PUNCH
1 can of pineapple juice
1 liter of 7 up
1 liter of Hawaiian Punch
1/2 Gallon of vanilla ice cream
several pineapple slices
(variation: orange sherbet instead of ice cream)
Mix first three ingredients together, add ice cream to melt slowly, add pineapple slices for garnishment. Tastes wonderful!!!
